Ouch! Glad everybody is okay. I put the bill at $4,000.
I had a lady drive into my front passenger side quarter panel a couple of years ago. She told me if I was an honest person and would admit that it was my fault, we could just exchange insurance information and drive away.
I called the police. She was cited, as the office said, for "lane borrowage."
I guessed $3000 last night. But I am inexperienced in the ways of body shop work here in the USA. Little known fact here - in Oz they are called "panelbeaters."
Jack took great delight in making a special point of telling the officer at the scene of the accident after he had filed his report, "I'm Batman." I'm not sure why Jack said this, but it still makes me laugh.
Ha! I hope the officer took comfort in knowing that the Dark Knight was on the scene.
I like "panelbeater" much better than "body shop," although the practiced finesse of the nation's painless dent repair professionals may frankly take offense. We will have to rely on their storied cross-cultural sensitivity to save us from an awkward moment.
