Our big news is that Becky is pregnant, and we know that we are having a boy. He is due in late June. Take a look at our photo gallery for some wonderful ultrasound pikkies.

Memorial Service

Becky attended the memorial service for Mark Rich, Dave Mankins and Rick Tenenoff in Sanford, FL on the 6th of Oct. Here are some photos from the weekend.

There is now a review of the book The Philosophy of Humanism on the views page. This is an assignment I just completed for my Christianity and Competing Worldviews class.

Cedar Point

We had a fantastic time at Cedar Point in Ohio with our good friends Roger and Deneen. This amusement park has been voted best in the world for three years running. We had an entire Saturday to try out every single rollercoaster in the park. What a rush!

The Millenium Force is supposedly the largest, fastest and steepest rollercoaster in the world. The main hill runs down at 80 degrees and you hit 92 mph at the fastest point. I'll say it again, what a rush!

Missions Small Group

Becky & I gave started our small group as part of Westwinds Community Church here in Jackson. We are spending four months teaching the group about missions and giving them opportunities to experience various aspects of missions involvement.

Westwinds has supported missionaries and run short term trips for many years now, but missions education is a new thing. We appreciate your prayers as we seek to equip others here in Jackson to be world Christians. We are excited about what God may do in the lives of the people that come through this group. On the right is a photo from our first night.

Another exciting thing related to this is that on the 5th of September I took on the role of Director of Missions for Westwinds. This will involve coming up with ways to enhance and expand the missions vision of the church as it moves into 2002 and beyond.

Summer Institute

The NTM Summer Institute (SI) was fantastic; I especially enjoyed getting to know the staff from the various NTM Missions Institutes in North America. Mark Zook is teaching in the photo on the here.

Just to give you an idea of what the workload was like, a normal Bible Institute semester lasts 15 weeks and averages 16 credit hours of work. Sometimes students take as many as 21 credit hours if they are feeling brave. I have 9 credit hours for this entire five week course. You can do the sums . I felt like I was eating, sleeping & breathing SI! Some of the topics we covered were:

Coming Soon

We are hoping to travel to Panama this December. This is for a couple of reasons. The first is to spend Christmas with Becky's family there and see the NTM ministries that they are involved in. The second reason is to visit tribal works during our time there. This is something that Becky & I have talked about often, but only now is it looking possible.

I was talking with Jerry McDaniels at SI about his work amongst the Kuna churches in Panama and he will be able to take Becky and me to see some Kuna churches during our time there. Jerry and his wife Joyce have been involved in producing Bible study materials, training national pastors etc and it is clear that God is doing some exciting things among the Kunas of Panama. It would be great if we could see some of that first-hand. We are trusting the Lord to raise all the necessary finances (for airfares etc), since we will need to book flights soon in order to get tickets.

Becky - California, There She Went!

Becky had a very busy week out in LA during the last week of June. She enjoyed herself immensely in helping a good friend of hers (Margaret Hanson...now Margaret Luevano) get married amidst the usual craziness that ensues a week before a wedding. On the right we have Adrienne, Mr & Mrs Carlos Luevano(!), Becky and Margaret's sister Annie.

It was also a good time for Becky catching up with her Mum and sister Adrienne (& niece MaryJane!) and Mickey Mouse (a total of 16 hours at Disneyland in only one day!).

Newsletter

Our March newsletter - Postcards from Michigan - is now out. We will be publishing this every three to four months, so if you (or someone you know) would like a copy please email us and let us know. If you are in Australia then this includes you too! Most of the information on the newsletter will be available here online, but we find that some people just like to have something in their hands to read. If you are one of those people who likes things stuck to your fridge or on your coffee table then this could be just the trick. - Updated 12 April 2001

Wedding and Honeymoon

The main event for last year for us was our wedding on the 1st of July 2000. Everything that happened prior to that event seemed to be leading up to it, and everything since then has been related to it. Many thanks to our friends and family that came from all over the USA and as far as Panama, Australia and Europe to share this special time ... Read full article. - Updated 6 March 2001
